We went to the hospital today for another non-stress test and ultrasound. Baby and mom-to-be are both well. From the ultrasound, we saw that the baby is head down and in the proper position. The heart is beating 135-160 beats per minute, which is fine.
Yesterday we had the “spicy” wings from KFC. Verdict- not spicy enough. We had to douse them in tabasco to even register 1 chile. Definitely not going there for wings again.
So everything looks good, it’s just that baby isn’t ready to come out yet. Back for more monitoring tomorrow.
I’d say about a good 1/2 of the parents I know were late with the first one, the rest were early…(grin). Its not exactly a science how they find the date. The initial “due date” is calculated as 6 weeks back from when the woman first notices she’s late, which is why when someone finds out they’re pregnant, they’re always 6 weeks along. That’s been going on for 1000’s of years. Our rocket scientists tried correcting the date with an ultrasound measurement, which seems futile since most babies come out different sizes. When some friends of ours were pregnant, she took either 1 or 2 weeks off before her due date. As with most jobs, her last few days at work were pretty heavy as she tried to clear her plate. On the friday of her last day of work she came home, exhausted, sat down, took a bite of the pizza her husband bought earlier and her water broke. I swear for the next 2 years she complained about not ever being rested enough. I think its hard no matter which way it goes. I feel for you guys, though, Jade was late as well and you start to climb the walls after awhile. Perhaps you need more cowbell…(grin)
