{"id":79,"date":"2007-01-22T03:29:57","date_gmt":"2007-01-22T07:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/?p=79"},"modified":"2007-01-22T03:29:57","modified_gmt":"2007-01-22T07:29:57","slug":"erica-5-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/?p=79","title":{"rendered":"Erica @ 5 months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well as of last week, Erica reached the 5 month mark.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When E was preggy, we heard other parents remark that they grow so fast.\u00a0 Boy do we ever believe it.\u00a0 She&#8217;s now approaching 15lbs.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking back since our last update, she&#8217;s gone from a newborn who mostly eats\/sleeps\/make dirty diapers to a newborn that well&#8230; eats\/sleeps\/make dirty diapers, but also now has very sharp hearing\/eyesight, has full control over her head, can roll over, suck her thumb, and grab her feet.\u00a0 Also giggles and makes a lot of pterodactyl like sounds.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe that she was 4 months when we took her to Maui.\u00a0 It was on the flight there that we first noticed that she was sucking her thumb, and not &#8220;west-coasting&#8221; it.\u00a0 One night in the hotel room, we heard her grunting and doing something that was taking a lot of exertion&#8230; we naturally thought she was making a big diaper, but when we peeked into her crib, she had rolled herself over!\u00a0 Now she can do it at will, and keep her head up to look around.\u00a0 Her bum is also in the air, so we think it&#8217;s a precursor to crawling.<\/p>\n<p>For some time now, she&#8217;s been staring at her hands&#8230; and it was during the trip that she discovered her feet.\u00a0 Now she has them to stare and grab at.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that&#8217;s surprised us is how interactive she is becoming with her surroundings.\u00a0 For sure, her eyesight and hearing is better than ours.\u00a0 While feeding, she can become distracted by the cats walking around, or if I&#8217;m feeding her, she&#8217;s scanning around to see where mom is.\u00a0 She&#8217;s definitely spending more time noticing and staring at the cats and fishtank&#8230; and TV.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s also been practising her vocals, babbling, listening to\u00a0how high her voice can go, making subtle gurgling noises.\u00a0 In short, she&#8217;s\u00a0finding her voice.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also been\u00a0other subtle signs\u00a0that show she&#8217;s understanding things-\u00a0like\u00a0during nap time when I\u00a0show her a soother, she&#8217;ll open her mouth\u00a0to take it, and grab her rattle bear.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So some photos- the one with\u00a0Sloan was taken today.\u00a0 Sloan is *almost*\u00a03.\u00a0 The other pic shows Aidan (August 9) and\u00a0Caden\u00a0(August 12) and Erica (August 17).\u00a0\u00a0Aidan\u00a0and Caden\u00a0(and\u00a0oh yeah, their parents)\u00a0live in our complex.\u00a0 E sent this photo to me at work and pointed out that e is playing with her two new BOY-friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Auuuugh!\u00a0\u00a0 \ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"imagelink\" id=\"p77\" title=\"img_4532.JPG\" href=\"http:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/?attachment_id=77\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image77\" height=\"96\" alt=\"img_4532.JPG\" src=\"http:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/01\/img_4532.JPG\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 <a class=\"imagelink\" id=\"p78\" title=\"aidan-erica-caden_b.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/?attachment_id=78\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image78\" height=\"96\" alt=\"aidan-erica-caden_b.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/derekandevonne.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/01\/aidan-erica-caden_b.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well as of last week, Erica reached the 5 month mark.\u00a0 When E was preggy, we heard other parents remark that they grow so fast.\u00a0 Boy do we ever believe it.\u00a0 She&#8217;s now approaching 15lbs.
